Kicking off this morning’s Sony State of Play with a bang, Tekken 8 was finally officially revealed in a bombastic cinematic trailer. It has been seven long years since Tekken 7, so it’s high time we saw the continuation of Jin’s vow to take down Kazuya. We see an explosive confrontation between the two in the reveal trailer:
The trailer is a cinematic one, but it gives us a bit of a taste of what the gameplay might look like. As it’s only a reveal trailer, it doesn’t reveal too much detail on what we can expect to be updated from Tekken 7.
We knew that Bandai Namco was working on Tekken 8 thanks to a leak back in 2021 that allowed access into NVIDIA’s internal list of upcoming releases. The leak only revealed the game’s name, but earlier this month we also saw an amusing teaser for a new Tekken game as part of EVO 2022. Ever since then fans have been speculating about an announcement coming soon. And it turns out they were right!
No release date was given for Tekken 8, so it will likely not be anytime this year. But more news is sure to come.
