To the surprise and delight of literally everyone, Supergiant Games’ beloved 2020 roguelike Hades is receiving a sequel. The new title, Hades 2, was revealed during The Game Awards. Check out the trailer below.
From the trailer, we see the new protagonist training hard with a mysterious witch. It looks as though the goal of this title will not be to escape Hades as in the critically-acclaimed original, but rather to delve into its depths to rescue the protagonist’s father.
This is a notable one for Supergiant Games, as it’s the first time that they have committed to a sequel rather than a new IP. Considering the huge success Hades received (it even won our very own Game of the Year in 2020), this certainly isn’t surprising that the team would want to go back to this universe.
We’re looking forward to learning more about Hades 2 when details about its Early Access period are revealed in 2023.
