Dunkey’s first publishing announcement is a horror platformer called Animal Well

The internet personality known as Video Game Dunkey has announced the first game to be a part of his indie publishing label Big Mode that was announced back in September of 2022. That first game goes by the name of Animal Well and describes itself as a puzzle, horror platformer. With an illuminated and slightly unsettling visual style somewhat reminiscent of 2021’s Dap, Animal Well certainly looks the business with crisp animations and lighting effects.

Animal Well is said to feature an atmospheric world to explore, and one that’s full of puzzles and secrets. The trailer (embedded below) showcases some of that puzzle platforming as you control a creature hatched from a flower through a hauntingly beautiful world. You also get glimpses of those horror elements with a lot of mystery shrouding this release.

The game’s webpage says:

“A pixelated wonder rendered in intricate audio and visual detail. Hatch from your flower and spelunk through the beautiful and sometimes haunting world of Animal Well. Encounter lively creatures small and large, helpful and ominous as you discover unconventional upgrades and unravel the well’s secrets. This is a truly unique experience that can make you laugh in fear, surprise, or delight.”
