Lords of the Fallen set to resurrect later this year

Posted on May 18, 2023

Lords of the Fallen, the new dark-fantasy action RPG from HEXWORKS has received its release date. After being announced last year, it will officially be released on (the spooky) Friday the 13th October, 2023.

After the original Lords of the Fallen release back in 2014, you’d be forgiven for getting confused about what this Souls-like “spiritual successor” truly entails, but it has been confirmed to be a reboot of the original title, coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X to challenge us all over again.

Accompanying the launch date is a shiny new trailer, showing an extended look at the gameplay in Unreal Engine 5. Check it out!

“We are thrilled to announce the release date for Lords of the Fallen, a game our talented team has been lovingly crafting for the last few years. To celebrate, we are sharing a deeper look at the horrors of Mournstead, an immersive, dark fantasy world that will challenge even the bravest players, with its unique two-realm mechanic. We can’t wait for players to raise their Umbral Lamps this October, and discover the many secrets that lurk behind the darkness.” said Saul Gascon, Executive Producer at HEXWORKS.

Lords of the Fallen (2014) showed a lot of potential, a Souls-like experience that had the foundations of something grand but didn’t take the world by storm. Lords of the Fallen (2023) looks like it could be set to course correct, and we’re hopeful that the game can achieve the vision that the original was aiming for almost ten years ago.

Lords of the Fallen is coming October 13 for Xbox Series X and PS5.
