Revealed for the first time at the Xbox & Bethesda showcase was a new game by beloved developer DON’T NOD. Creators of the Life is Strange series as well as notable releases like Vampyr, Tell Me Why and recently Harmony: The Fall of Reverie, DON’T NOD are on an absolute role at the moment. The new game goes by the name Jusant and shows a climber making their way up a practically vertical mountainside with an adorable alien in their backpack. The desert architecture points towards a civilization who’ve built into the mountainside alongside some other mysteries that go unanswered.
A gameplay snippet in the reveal trailer shows off some of the moment-to-moment action of scaling a mountain. The perilous climb through rocky terrain, high winds, precarious handholds and more looks to keep things interesting. Also intriguing are the clearly not-of-this-world elements such as the strange flora and fauna as well as a ‘pulse’ that is seemingly sent out by our backpack friend that creates new growths on the mountainside. The world looks gorgeous and alien with dust-covered ruins, lush environments, and majestic caverns to explore.
Jusant is described as an “action-puzzle climbing game with meditative vibes”. It’s also not the only game we know of currently in development from DON’T NOD, with the studio also recently announcing Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Clearly a busy development team(s)!
Jusant is expected to launch this year for Xbox Series X|S and PC. It will also be available day one with Xbox Game Pass.
