Melbourne’s first dedicated eSports bar, GG EZ, is shutting down due to the inability to keep up with rising costs. The venue operated for 6 years and was one of the very few drinking venues in Melbourne targeted specifically at gamers. The announcement was made via social media where the send-off has been very sentimental.
It is with sadness that we announce that this Friday 25 August will be our 🚫 LAST NIGHT 🚫
Unfortunately we haven't been able to keep up with rising costs post-COVID, and so GGEZ will be closing its doors this week
Thank you all for an incredible 6 years of GGEZ 🫰

Back in its opening year, we got a chance to chat with Lachlan, owner of GG EZ, who was filled with passion and enthusiasm about the idea. We certainly wish him and the rest of the team all of the best in the future endeavours.
The idea behind GG EZ was simple. With sports bars being incredibly popular and the rise of eSports happening all around us, why wouldn’t an eSports bar work just as well? The venue displayed various eSports competitions and games from League of Legends to Valorant to Street Fighter. Gaming-themed cocktails and a lovely decor helped the venue to create a haven of sorts for gamers looking to unwind.
It’s sad to lose another venue and we’ll have to wait and see as to whether an eSports bar can ever return to take its place.
