Sad news for fellow horror game lovers: THQ Nordic has announced a postponement of the release date for the long-awaited survival horror game reboot, ‘Alone in the Dark’. The new release date is January 16, 2024, with the push back intended to avoid the hectic October release period.
Horror games thrive on the eerie embrace of solitude, something that is impossible to achieve in a gaming month as busy as October.
To ensure a breathtaking experience for everyone, we have made the decision to move the release of #AloneInTheDark to January 16, 2024. pic.twitter.com/W5EgV4aTZc

As a love letter to the original, the new Alone in the Dark offers a reimagining of the survival horror pioneer, set within the familiar Derceto Manor. Here, players can experience the story through the eyes of the series’ original characters, Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby. According to THQ Nordic, the story is a blend of psychological horror and American Southern Gothic themes, featuring combat and puzzle-solving elements. Players will encounter deadly creatures, strange individuals, and may even find themselves in a devilish realm.
While players will have to wait a little longer to dive into Alone in the Dark, this delay provides more breathing room in an already-crowded October. With the releases of ‘Alan Wake 2,’ ‘Super Mario Bros. Wonder,’ ‘Assassin’s Creed: Mirage,’ and the console release of ‘Diablo 4‘ all scheduled for October, it’s probably best for all of us to save the chills for a quieter time.
Alone in the Dark will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
