The Game Awards happened just yesterday and along with all of the big winners were the typical announcements and reveals of games. One of these was more word on Hideo Kojima’s game being made in collaboration with Xbox. As per previous leaks and reports from a year ago, this game will be called OD or Overdose.
What’s most exciting is perhaps the celeb talent on board for this project. Following a bit of talk between The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley and Hideo himself on the game, horror film director Jordan Peele entered the stage and revealed he is collaborating and involved in the production. As per the trailer, the cast so far includes Sophia Lillis (It), Udo Kier (Downsizing), and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria). As a trans woman myself, it’s a big deal to see one fronting the next big Hideo Kojima game.
No release date has been revealed yet for OD. Hideo Kojima and Jordan Peele tease that the game is more than just a game, but also a ‘movie and new type of media.’ What exactly that means just yet, we don’t know. If its anything like the auteurs previous work, it’ll be far from the standard. Stay tuned.
