Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Team WIBY have announced the 1.0 release of their whip-cracking multiplayer game, Phantom Abyss. The game is set to launch on January 25, 2024, to PC and Xbox platforms, including Game Pass! The announcement came with a new trailer you can check out below.
Phantom Abyss took home the Excellence in Technical Design award at the Australian Game Developer Awards late last year, but now as it approaches its full release, it may well be in line for many more accolades yet to come. The game’s general premise is that of a ‘death run’ style race against other players and the environment. Speeding through Aztec temples is the perfect setting for getting the heart racing as you collect upgrades and whip-crack your way around the world, each level more perilous than the last. It’s been a healthy little period since the game launched in Early Access in 2021, and even at that time it felt polished and feature-rich. This can only mean extra love and attention have been given, so we can’t wait to check the game out again once it launches on January 25.
