One of the announcements in today’s Nintendo Direct presentation was one that has been particularly highly-anticipated by Ace Attorney fans, that being the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection. Comprising of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and its previously Japan-exclusive sequel, Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor’s Gambit, this collection will bring these cult classic DS visual novels to modern platforms for the first time, with plenty of new features.
Taking place after the events of the original Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy, the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection puts the player in the role of Phoenix’s rival, the prosecutor Miles Edgeworth. Featuring unique features such as a third person perspective when exploring crime scenes and utilising the DS’ advanced graphics to examine evidence in 3D, this spin-off series managed to get the first game localised, but not its sequel. Fortunately, this enhanced collection includes both games being localised not just into English, but also French, German, Korean, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, along with new voice dubs!
The Ace Attorney Investigations Collection brings plenty of new enhancements on the visuals front, such as new, more detailed character models in place of the old pixelated ones, as well as more expressive animations. If you liked the pixel art style, however, that is still included as an option. For those who just want to experience the narrative without worrying about puzzles, there is a Story Mode feature which guides you through the game. Players can also enjoy a detailed in-game art gallery and soundtrack, which also includes orchestral rearrangements.
Ace Attorney fans looking forward to experiencing Edgeworth’s classic adventures won’t have too long to wait. The Ace Attorney Investigations Collection will be releasing on the 6th of September 2024 on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
