skate. (formerly known as Skate 4) stole the spotlight at the Summer Game Fest 2024 with an exciting update. The event featured a fresh trailer, news of an upcoming console playtest, and a hilariously chaotic introduction by comedian Tim Robinson of I Think You Should Leave fame.
We were treated to a new trailer revealing a console playtest schedulled for this spring. However, the trailer cheekily admitted that a full release date is still up in the air, with the developers still stating they’re “working on it.” The footage shown was labelled as “pre-pre-alpha”, with a disclaimer that the final game might look quite different.
skate. was first announced during EA Play in 2020 when it was described as being in the “very early” stages of development. Since then, the developer, Full Circle, has offered community playtests and regular updates through their The Board Room video series. In 2022, the game was officially named “skate.” It was confirmed to be a free-to-play title available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
In a surprising twist, Tim Robinson appears as an M-Corp spokesperson. In a bunch of chaotic dialogue and scenarios happening around this office, Robinson’s gives a hilarious performance that fans of his bizarre comedy will love. We also get a hint of the tone and feel that the next skate. game will have, truly leaning into a fun and wacky nature.
While a concrete release date remains unknown, there’s plenty to keep fans excited. You can find more information on how to sign up for the upcoming playtest on the skate. website.
