Production for the upcoming Minecraft movie, starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, has gone underway and the designs for the video game film adaptation were leaked on the internet. These new images featured how the creatures of Minecraft would look in real life and it’s something to get used to looking at. The images within the leak were swiftly taken down for copyright, but not before the images were saved and distributed across the net.
Images featured in this leak include Jack Black as Steve, as he dawns the blue shirt and pickaxe. According to the leaked character bio, it said that this version of Steve has a pet wolf named Dennis, but was captured by the “evil Magosha.” Alongside Steve, there were also glimpses of the live-action renditions of some of the creatures in this world, all of which look very fuzzy, especially the creeper. Leaked images for the Minecraft movie were shared on social media earlier this year, where fans got glimpses of the film’s props, such as the trees and a rock wall.
The Minecraft movie has been developing since 2012, as the project was passed around numerous times due to creative differences. Filming for the Minecraft movie was delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, but it eventually began around mid-January 2024 in Auckland and ended back in mid-April. Alongside Black and Momoa, the Minecraft movie is set to star Jennifer Coolidge, Danielle Brooks, Kate McKinnon, Jemaine Clement, Emma Myers, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen.
The Minecraft movie is scheduled to hit theatres on April 4, 2025, in the United States.
