AuntyGames has announced the release date for Gourdlets, a cozy game where you build an island for creatures called Gourdlets. This game was in development for over a year, with a demo version available to download on Steam. This cozy island-building title will be AuntyGames’ video game debut and will be published by this game dev and Future Friends Games.
A release date announcement trailer was shared via the official Gourdlets Discord server and Steam page, where it showcased what you can do in the game and how every time your island grows, you will earn rewards. The game promises “good chill vibes all round” and that players wouldn’t have to worry about the Gourdlets’ mood or situation. The game also features an “idle window mode,” to give company to players if they’re doing other tasks and want to see their world while working.
The main gameplay of Gourdlets is a point-and-click cozy island sandbox game. Players don’t have to worry about resources or money, just build to your heart’s content. You can make the island as big or small as you want and invite as many Gourdlets as you can. As of writing, Gourdlets have yet to release the cost of the game, but the free demo is still available to download.
Gourdlets was developed by AuntyGames (aka Preethi), a solo video game developer. According to her TikTok, she quit her job as an aerospace engineer to develop the game full-time. She has been sharing the game’s creation on social media and how ideas changed since the game first began. Gourdlets was featured in Steam’s Next Fest 2024, Wholesome Direct 2023, and is currently part of Tiny Teams Festival by Yogscast Games
Gourdlets will be fully released on Steam on August 15, 2024. In the meantime, you can add the game to your wishlist or download the game’s demo.
