Big Games Night Out is back and bigger than ever as the video game event will be returning to Federation Square in Melbourne (Naarm). This year’s event will feature a ton of new activities and video game showcases for gamers of all ages, leading up to this year’s PAX Aus 2024 weekend. Creative Victoria has returned to present this event as part of Melbourne’s International Games Week 2024, which is also celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Witness an unforgettable experience for people of all cultures, backgrounds, and gaming experience. Not only will it have a huge lineup of games and activities, but also a stellar lineup of performers and hosts will be heading on stage to keep the party going from 3 pm till late. Not to mention, it’s free and people of all ages can attend the event.
Some of the lineup for this year’s video game celebrations include playing Hipster Whale’s Crossy Road in a giant inflatable chicken costume, live music and immersive projections from the Blaktasia Universe, a cosplay runway, hosted by ARIA Music Award winner and Grammy Award Nominee, Montaigne, and Megan MeKeough, and so many free-to-play areas and eSports tournaments to grab your hands on. In addition, those in the retro gaming scene can head to the arcades, located at the Atrium Games Zone, where they can play the classics, like Donkey Kong, PAC-MAN, Street Fighter, Mario Kart GP, and SEGA Daytona USA.
Melbourne International Games Week is Asia Pacific’s largest digital games celebration. Its goal is to bring Australia’s games industry together and connect them with a local and international market. It also educates people about the industry and how it can be used for social change. According to the event’s official website, Big Games Night Out is one of the big events during MIGW 2024, along with PAX Aus 2024 and the Australian Game Developer Awards 2024.
