Immerse yourself in fashion and video games at Melbourne’s Big Games Night Out

Get ready for a night of digital wonder, fantasy, and gaming galore! Big Games Night Out is set to transform Melbourne (Naarm), iconic Fed Square, and its surroundings into a games-themed paradise on Thursday, 5 October 2023. This immersive event, presented by Creative Victoria in partnership with Fed Square, is part of Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW) and promises an unforgettable evening of games, music, cosplay, and more.

Big Games Night Out welcomes everyone, from curious newcomers to die-hard gamers, to come together for an evening of celebration in the heart of Melbourne. It will feature the Big Games Night Out Cosplay Parade and Runway Experience, hosted by the charismatic Myf Warhust and pop star and Twitch streamer Montaigne. Cosplayers of all skill levels, whether you create or buy your costumes, are encouraged to participate.

We will also be treated to a special performance of Cult of the Lamb: The Ritual, presented by ACMI and Melbourne Fringe. The Ritual will feature large-scale puppets, a live DJ performances, and animated projections that bring our favourite animal-occult game characters to life. This mesmerising performance is made possible with the support of a RISE grant and promises to be an unforgettable experience.

Additionally, the launch of Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical by Victorian-based Summerfall Studios will be marked by the Stray Gods Fashion Showcase. Eight Melbourne fashion designers will showcase character costumes inspired by the game’s epic narrative about gods, magic, and a thousand-year journey.

The gaming extravaganza will feature indie arcade games, a taste of the ’80s with retro gaming, and exciting local game releases. Gamers of all generations can come together to play and learn, thanks to a special intergenerational gaming arena presented in partnership with the Victorian Seniors Festival. For those seeking new challenges, the Games Swap Meet is the perfect place to exchange old games for something fresh, satisfying your nostalgia for classic gaming experiences.

Big Games Night Out is part of Melbourne International Games Week, which features a wide array of creative events throughout October with the support of the Victorian Government. This event is funded by the Melbourne City Revitalisation Fund, a partnership between the Victorian Government and the City of Melbourne.
