Turok is making his long-awaited comeback with the upcoming new game, Turok: Origins, which was revealed during The Game Awards 2024. Developed and published by Saber Interactive, this upcoming title brings a new perspective on the franchise and turns the series into a co-cop third-person shooter, rather than the first-person perspective that the original series had back on the Nintendo 64. This will be the first entry in the Turok series since Turok: Escape from Lost Valley, the short-lived isometric spin-off which was released in 2020 and delisted in 2022 due to a licensing issue.
Turok: Origins, which appears to be a reboot based on the subtitle, sees you play as the legendary Turok warriors as they face fearsome dinosaurs and aliens in a quest with the fate of humanity at stake. The game can be tackled solo or with friends, and players have melee attacks, a large variety of weapons as well as special DNA powers harvested from defeated foes at their disposal. With these DNA powers, players can alter their appearance and utilise powerful abilities, such as force fields and giant tentacles with which they can fling velociraptors around the map.
Other details regarding this game are still thin to the ground. Turok: Origins is confirmed to be releasing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. However, no release date has been confirmed as of yet. We will have to keep an eye out for when Saber Interactive announces a release window for this upcoming dinosaur-hunting co-op adventure.
