Fans of sci-fi RPGs were treated to a surprise at The Game Awards 2024 with the reveal of a new trailer for the eagerly-awaited sequel, The Outer Worlds 2, releasing 2025. Obsidian Entertainment, renowned for crafting memorable, player-driven narratives, promises an even grander adventure filled with new worlds, dangerous enemies, and complex moral dilemmas.

The Outer Worlds captured that Fallout: New Vegas charm upon its release in 2019, earning praise for its sharp wit, compelling characters, and the freedom it gave players to shape their story. It quickly became a fan favourite, setting a high bar for immersive RPGs with its blend of dark humour and vibrant, sprawling sci-fi environments.

Now, The Outer Worlds 2 is taking players to the Arcadia colony, where humanity’s survival hangs in the balance. As an agent of the Earth Directorate, players must investigate mysterious rifts threatening to unravel the galaxy. Arcadia is a fresh frontier, rife with factional strife as a rebellion, corporate interests, and the Protectorate vie for control amidst chaos.

Obsidian is once again doubling down on player choice, offering deeper character customization and a story shaped by every decision. Whether you’re a silver-tongued diplomat, a tactical mastermind, or a chaotic wildcard, your journey will be uniquely yours.

Companions, a hallmark of the first game, are back with more depth than ever. Each member of your crew has their own goals, quirks, and loyalties, and your interactions will define their growth or demise.

With new weapons, new factions, and new adventures, The Outer Worlds 2 aims to expand on everything players loved in the first game while introducing bold new ideas to the franchise.
