We love Aussie-made games, don’t we, folks? The studio behind 2022’s farming sim hit, Wylde Flowers, and the 2022 Game of the Year winner from Apple Arcade has a new game in the works! Titled Wylde Society, it still has that similar feel of a cosy game.
But instead of farming tools and a contemporary style, we’re going back in the past, with a more period drama vibe. In Wylde Society, you’re tasked with running a magical “turn-of-the-century boarding house”. You’ll be able to sip, serve and spill the tea. Including hosting balls, conducting witchy séances and match make!
In Wylde Society, you can explore the town of Fairhaven Island at the turn of the century. You can build, run, customise and even decorate your own magical boarding house, and also have the ability to choose new tenants each season to join your coven; or keep them in mystery as they help liven up your parties. On the topic of parties, the events you can host are tea parties, feasts, weddings and elegant balls. You’re able to perfect your witchcraft by inventing new magical rituals and using tarot to see into the future. There’s also the ability to play Cupid and matchmaker by matching up all the eligible suitors in town. Lastly, you’re able to change Fairhaven’s history, by taking a direct hand in the island’s politics or even over dinner.
The features they have listed already sound like an amazing game and one that seems like a massive step up from Wylde Flowers too. But it seems like the folks at Studio Drydock are still continuing their love for narratives in a genre where it typically takes a backseat. Amanda Schofield, the Managing and Creative Director at Studio Drydock said that the reception for Wylde Flowers surpassed their expectations, going on to state, “We’re so grateful for all the love and support that fans have shown. Now, we’re taking players back 100 years to meet Vivian Wylde, a character teased in the first game. We can’t wait for players to explore our reimagined Fairhaven, populated with a massive cast of characters, more stories, more customization [sic] and more heart.”
While there is no announcement date yet, you can wishlist it on Steam now. There are no announcements either on whether Wylde Society is coming to other platforms. But we’ll just have to wait and see.
