Just shy of four years since the phenomenal roguelike Returnal, Housemarque has unveiled their next big and ambitious game. Unveiled at the February PlayStation State of Play this morning, Saros is coming from the Finnish studio in 2026.
Saros stars Rahul Kohli, whose credits include television series like iZombie, The Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass, along with appearing in games like Gears 5 as Fahz and Stray Gods as the Minotaur. The trailer shows Kohli awakening on a beach, where the sun is exploding(?) and an eldritch demon God surfaces from the water. Through the protagonist’s eyes we see a spiral of projectiles appear in hyperlight, in true Housemarque fashion.
We don’t know a lot about Saros just yet, but it does look to be a spiritual successor or at least taking the teachings of Returnal. Considering it’s still one of the best PS5 exclusives to date, that’s hardly a bad thing. Saros releases in 2026. Stay tuned.
