Aardman announces Chicken Run: Eggstraction, Bella Ramsey to reprise role

Aardman fans rejoice, the Chicken Run series is returning in video game form! Chicken Run: Eggstraction is a stealth game following on from the events of 2023’s Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. Developed by Aardman Animations, the game will feature many returning voice actors from the film, including Bella Ramsey (also known for their role as Ellie in The Last of Us) and Josie Sedgwick-Davies, and will be playable in single player as well as co-op.

The game follows on from the events of the Chicken Run stop-motion animated film and its 2023 Netflix-produced sequel, Dawn of the Nugget. You play as Ginger, Rocky and Molly and the rest of their fugitive chicken community as they pursue their mission to rescue the rest of the chickens held captive in chicken farms and factories across England. Developed by Aardman Entertainment, the animation style seeks to emulate the tactile stop-motion claymation animation of the original films, albeit from a tactical viewpoint as you direct your team of chickens to sneak through farms and rescue their captured compatriots.

Chicken Run: Eggstraction appears to play similarly to Mimimi Productions’ Desperados III and Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun where you manouvre a small team of chickens in real time as they hide from guards and sneak through the environment. Players can use each chicken’s unique traits and special gadgets to disable cameras, knock out guards and rescue captive chickens. Players can launch their rescue operations solo, or work with a friend in local co-op to solve puzzles and aid, or hinder, each other’s escape plans.

We do not yet have a release date, however the reveal trailer advises that the game is “coming soon“. Chicken Run: Eggstraction will be releasing on PC, as well as Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
