Dying Light developer Techland has confirmed the cancellation of two in-development games. Neither project was named in the announcement. The studio has also confirmed to Eurogamer that there has been no reduction in staff as a result of the cancellations. Instead, staff are being moved onto other projects.

In a statement to Eurogamer, a Techland spokesperson expanded on the shift in development priorities. “Game development is never a straight line, and sometimes fresh approaches are necessary to make great games,“they stated. “What’s important here is that none of the reported changes have resulted in staff reductions. Developers were moved to other projects and are working on a number of games in our pipeline.

With the news of mass layoffs from Microsoft this week, it is refreshing to see a company keep developers employed. While there wasn’t much information about the cancelled projects, rumour has it that at least one is the fantasy IP revealed in 2022.

The next instalment in Techland’s premier franchise, Dying Light: The Beast, is set to release on August 22nd 2025. After its release, Techland has confirmed that it “will share more about future titles in due time.
