Take to the skies in Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection

Posted on August 1, 2025

Capcom has announced Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection during the July Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase. With a new Monster Hunter Stories entry not having been released since 2021 with Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, this new title seems to be establishing a new tone and setting for its turn-based RPG spin-off series of Capcom’s acclaimed Monster Hunter franchise.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection takes place in two nations at war, Azuria and Vermeil. Both kingdoms are experiencing destruction caused by “crystal encroachment”, a crystal plague which is driving people from their homes. You play as the heir of Azuria, the only remaining Rathalos Rider in the kingdom, and encounter a mysterious egg which hatches into twin Rathalos, which were otherwise thought to be extinct. You are also accompanied in your adventure by Eleanor, the princess of Vermeil.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection appears to be taking on a somewhat more mature tone based around political interpersonal conflict compared to the first two entries. We don’t have any actual gameplay footage yet, but as it is a Monster Hunter Stories game, we can likely expect more Pokémon-style monster collecting and turn-based combat.

As it stands, we will have to wait a while before we can get our hands on this entry. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection currently has a release window of sometime in 2026 and will release on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox, PS5, and PC via Steam. Hopefully we will learn more regarding when exactly the game will release and more details regarding any new gameplay elements before long.
