Until 6am AEST on 21 April (1pm PDT 20 April) there is an Easter egg hunt going on in the Pokémon GO world!
This event is very egg-themed. More Pokémon can hatch from 2km eggs (including Lapras and Larvitar), Generation 2 starters Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile can hatch from 5km eggs, and reports from the interwebs suggest Porygon can hatch from a 10km egg. There is also a slight increase in the amount of candy earned from eggs that hatch, and Lucky Eggs are half price in the shop.
While this event at first does not seem to be as exciting as the recent Water Festival or my favourite thus far, Halloween, during this Eggstravaganza (Pokémon GO’s term, not mine I swear) you earn double XP! And yes that means you can potentially earn four times the XP with a Lucky Egg.
There are many (including I suspect a few in the Checkpoint crew) who feel Pokémon GO is on the decline, and although this event will not egg-cite all, the XP bonus gives both the chance for new players to “catch up”, and enable those of us who have been playing since the start a greater opportunity to level up.
It would have been nice though to see a new Pokémon (or shiny version) to feature, or even a limited-edition Pikachu in a bunny outfit.
