It has been a slow trickle of news for Far Cry 5 but finally we have something solid. Originally revealed with nothing more than a logo, and then having its location revealed in a teaser trailer, we now have an official announce trailer that unveils some goodies including a February 27, 2018 release date.
The trailer is most definitely very violent and heavy on the cult-like religious tones. It also shows more of Montana, the game’s location and the beauty of the surrounding areas. Narrated by some kind of pastor / father / cult-leader, it seems clear that Far Cry 5 intends to angle you as the victim of this crazed following and it would be a fairly safe bet to assume the narrator is also the game’s antagonist. Check it out below.
“Welcome to Hope County, Montana. When your arrival incites the cult to violently seize control of the region, you must rise up and spark the fires of resistance to liberate a besieged community” – reads the trailer’s Youtube description.
“Freely explore Hope County’s rivers, lands, and skies with the largest customizable weapon and vehicle roster ever in a Far Cry game. You are the hero of the story in a thrilling world that hits back with every punch, and where the places you discover and the locals you ally with will shape your story in ways you’ll never see coming.”
The game will be playable in 2-player coop and will also feature a customisable character for the first time. We also know that Far Cry 5 will allow you to engage in aerial dog-fights and train wildlife such as cougars and bears to fight by your side.
