Posted on July 31, 2017

It’s no secret that we’ve been a little hyped here at Checkpoint since the announcement of Monster Hunter World back at E3 2017. It was a time of mixed feelings for us, we had just had the announcement that there were no plans to bring the new Monster Hunter XX to western audiences when suddenly we were hit with the news that we would be getting a grand scale Monster Hunter game on PS4 and Xbox One in 2018 instead. Whilst the arrival of its impending release date is a point of some heart ache, since then there has been a steady flow of news from developer Capcom to keep us both happy and itching for this game to hit completion.

The latest instalment of content to hit our hungry eyes are three new videos that demonstrate the arsenal at your disposal in Monster Hunter World. Players can gear up to seek and slay ferocious monsters in the incredible living and breathing ecosystem of Monster Hunter World. Although already a skilled hunter, you won’t be heading into battle unarmed, players can choose from 14 different weapon types based on their preferred playstyle and these can be changed mid-quest, depending on the demands of the hunt.

We have a sneak peek at the benefits and unique traits of the full arsenal in the three new videos narrated by Capcom’s professional hunter!

The three videos demonstrate that there’s a vast range of unique weapons for players to choose from, whether they’re new to the hunt or already a seasoned veteran. Each weapon type has a different overall playstyle and diffeent characteristics, which are showcased in the above videos. Swords and blades can be useful in cutting damage and executing fast paced attacks, impact weapons like hammers can cause high damage and stun opponents but at the sacrifice to speed, whilst ranged weapons such as bowguns allow you to attack beasts from range. For those that find the hunt a little overwhelming, support style weapons can be very useful, weapons such as the hunting horn which plays melodies that provide buffs for the team shouldn’t be overlooked and there’s always room in my hunting party for a good support player.

Monster Hunter World launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Early 2018 with a PC version to follow. Which weapons will you wield for the hunt?
