Anime gamers have a lot to be excited about lately, with several exciting new announcements for additional content to their already popular gaming releases. Games included in this Bandai Namco DLC bonanza include Dragon Ball FighterZ, Jump Force, One Piece: World Seeker, and Black Clover: Quartet Knights.
Most of the announcements relate to additional fighters to be added to the roster, but the one I happen to be most excited about is the new DLC episode The Void Mirror Prototype coming to One Piece: World Seeker.
Having reviewed One Piece: World Seeker, and being a big fan of the manga and anime, I was unfortunately left feeling a bit cheated out a more fully fleshed game – considering One Piece is well known for having a great ensemble cast of characters. This latest announcement, however, has me really excited as one of my major critiques of World Seeker was the lack of playable characters. The inclusion of the Santoryu (Three Sword Style) user, Roronoa Zoro, into World Seeker will give the game a much needed boost in character development and hopefully a more fleshed out gameplay experience.
The next game on our list, Jump Force, has just dropped its latest DLC fighter trailer for one of the most recognisable protagonists to ever grace the world of heroes – All Might! A fan favourite and mentor to the series protagonist of My Hero Academia; is the second fighter from the series to be announced for the popular Shōnen anime-combined game. The trailer shows us a number of his popular attacks, as well as his overwhelming advantage regarding close combat.
This isn’t the only piece of Bandai Namco DLC news for Jump Force however, as they also announced several other new characters to the battle roster for future DLC. These fighters include Madara Uchiha from Naruto, Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez from Bleach, Trafalgar D. Law from One Piece, Katsuki Bakugo from My Hero Academia, fat Majin Buu from Dragon Ball Z, Toshiro Hitsugaya from Bleach and Biscuit Kruegar from Hunter x Hunter. While they still remain tight lipped about the remaining DLC, along with All Might and Seto Kaiba, one final DLC character is set to arrive in May for Jump Force, just who though is still anyone’s guess.
Some exciting news for fans of Black Clover: Quartet Knights, the third-person magical shooter that pits teams of four players against one another in online skirmishes. After allowing players of the game to cast their vote on the next playable character, it was unanimously decided that the next magic knight would be Mereoleona Vermillion.
A noble-woman, and first born of the Vermillion royal family, she is one the show’s most powerful fighters, even earning the title as the Uncrowned Undefeated Lioness. Little is known about her fighting in game, but players will only have to wait until the end of April to get their hands on this unbeatable Crimson Lions captain.
Lastly in Bandai Namco’s DLC updates, but not least, is the announcement of the latest DLC fighter coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ, Kid Goku/Super Saiyan 4, from Dragon Ball GT. Despite there being rumors surrounding this announcement it wasn’t confirmed until just recently when V-Jump released its most recent slew of official images.
These included details regarding the Super Saiyan 4 transformation, stating that Kid Goku would only be able to perform if one fighter, in the regular 3-man team, was knocked out and that his meteor attack Dragon Punch would be the strongest in the game, so far. His release is set for May, however, no official date has been announced yet.
With all these awesome Bandai Namco DLC updates, many of which are likely to arrive within the next month, Shōnen Jump has really stepped up its gaming presence and doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.
Which of these announcements are you most excited about and will this have you returning to any of the games you may have already completed? I know for a fact I’ll be readying myself for Zoro’s adventure in World Seeker and playing the hero with All Might in Jump force, so I’m raring and ready to go!
