Cancel any plans you had to take work off in September for the Cyberpunk 2077 release, because the game has once again been delayed. CD Projekt Red took to Twitter with the announcement early this morning. The Tweet, signed off by Marcin Iwinski, the studios co-founder and Adam Badowski, Head of Studio, said they “will not ship something that isn’t ready.”
For Cyberpunk fans, we know this isn’t the first time the game has been delayed. The much anticipated game originally had a release date of April 16th 2020. However CD Projekt Red announced in January that the release date had been pushed back to September 17th.The new release date is now the 19th of November, 2020.
CD Projekt Red also announced that the game is “finished both content and game-play wise.” They want the game to “stay with you for years to come” and that’s why it’s important that the studio “balance(s) game mechanics and fix(es) a lot of bugs.”

There have been mixed responses to all the announcement delays. Some fans think it’s the right move for CD Projekt Red to iron out all the kinks and not release a half finished game. For others who have been waiting for the game since its announcement back in 2012, their patience is running thin with delays after delays. CD Projekt Red addressed their fan’s possible frustration stating that “we are fully aware that making such a decision costs us your trust and trading trust for additional time is one of the hardest decisions a game developer can make.”
The studio has also revealed that journalists have been sent copies of the game in its current state. Thinking about what these journos may say about the game has made them “quite stressed” and with good reason. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games not only of this year, but of the decade. CD Projekt Red have big expectations to fill and therefore, they want to get it right.
In the meantime, the studio are hosting their Night City Wire on the 25th of June. Though there is no scheduled time for the live stream, or where to watch it, it can possibly be seen via their YouTube channel.
