After a slight delay, 2K Games and developer Hangar 13 have shown off some awesome looking gameplay footage of Mafia: Definitive Edition, the remake of the original Mafia from 2002 that is being completely rebuilt.
This follows on from the announcement of the Mafia Trilogy becoming available earlier this year; we’ve already seen Mafia 2: Definitive Edition, but that’s nothing compared to the glow-up we can see here in Mafia: Definitive Edition. Just seeing the comparisons to the original and seeing how stunning it looks today is quite impressive, and surely exciting for fans of the franchise. Take a look for yourself.
The mission shown off in the extended gameplay trailer, “A Trip to the Country”, is a great indication of the quality we can expect when the game releases, and hearing the developers talk about the changes and refinements during this deep dive shows the lengths they’ve gone to in order to make this remake both faithful to the original but also exciting for newcomers. A new batch of screenshots also highlights a very beautiful 1930’s USA.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is set to feature an updated script filled with rich new dialogue, expanded backstories, and additional cutscenes. You’ll also find all-new gameplay sequences and features, “best-in-class cinematics, and other enhancements.”
Open world action fans certainly have a lot to look forward to when Mafia: Definitive Edition launches on September 25 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
