Control, the action-adventure title developed by Finnish Studio Remedy Games, has now sold over two million copies. Remedy revealed its sales numbers in a recent online stream for investors, stating that they have now sold over two million copies across all platforms since its release in 2019. Remedy has also released an Ultimate Edition version of the game earlier this year, that is available on next-gen consoles.

The game was developed over three years, on a budget of thirty million euros. The development company also received some additional funding through its publisher, 505 Games, and through its exclusivity deal with Epic Games for the PC release. With Control being brand new IP from the developers, these sales are certainly promising for the Finnish studio. In a 2019 interview with gamesindustry.biz, Remedy CEO Tero Vitrala mentioned that they have not ruled out the possibility creating of a sequel to Control.

Interestingly, during the same stream, Remedy also revealed the influence of the pandemic on its sales: in 2020, its digital sales went from 60% to 90%. November was also the best-selling month to date for the action-adventure game.

In any case, we’re keen to see what the future will bring when it comes to Control. The strange and mysterious story combined with some great original game mechanics had us hooked straight from the start. We’d be keen to see what another game using this IP could look like!

Keen to play Control but haven’t had the chance yet? The game is currently available on Epic and Steam, Xbox via Xbox Game Pass, PS4 and Nintendo Switch via cloud gaming.
