Sloclap has announced that its martial arts action game from early last year, Sifu, is getting its final content update next month. The update is set to add new areas for the game’s Arenas mode, as well as new challenges and cosmetic options. The update will be released for all versions of the game, however the update for the Switch port will be arriving later than on the other platforms.
The update promises to greatly expand Sifu’s Arenas mode, adding six new locations in which to brawl. 75 additional challenges will be introduced, mixing things up with an array of modifiers and cheats. The player will also be able to customise their fighter’s appearance further with the inclusion of film-inspired outfits.
This is not the first update Sifu has received since its launch last year. Early on, the game had been supplemented with a patch introducing more varied difficulty options post-release following criticisms of its its initially high difficulty level. There was also the announcement of a live-action film adaptation made December of last year, with John Wick creator Derek Kolstad attached, however it is unclear how far that project has since progressed.
A year and a half of post-launch support is pretty decent for a new IP, with plenty of new content to improve Sifu since its release. Sifu’s final content update will release on September 7th 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC, with the Nintendo Switch version to receive it at an unconfirmed later date.
