Supermassive Games, the studio behind horror hits such as Until Dawn and The Quarry have announced layoffs and a period of ‘reorganising.’ The news comes from a X/Twitter announcement from the UK based studio, which we’ve included for you below.

Though the company admits the hard time the games industry is facing right now, the announcement did not detail just how impacted the studio was by this decision. Just prior to this announcement, Jason Schreier of Bloomberg reported that the layoffs will affect around 90 Supermassive Games staff. That’s up to 30% of its employee base.
Supermassive Games’ last release was 2023’s PSVR2 exclusive The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR. We know this year they are planning to release Little Nightmares III and The Casting of Frank Stone, a spin-off of the Dead by Daylight franchise.
This is far from the first story of lay-offs to hit the games industry in 2024. Last month, Microsoft laid off 1,900 of its gaming division. Tumultous times for the industry lay ahead this year.
