Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, the 2021 multiplayer-focused brawler developed by Tuque Games, has failed its death saves and will be is going dark in the near future. The game is being delisted from all online storefronts next year, and will have its multiplayer servers turned off. Fortunately, those who already own the game will still be able to play the single player mode, however online multiplayer will obviously be off the table going forward.
News of the impending server shutdown for Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance has been announced on the game’s Steam Store page. “We will be shutting down (shut down) the Dark Alliance servers on 2/24/2025 and it will no longer be available to purchase starting that day.” the developers confirm. “The base game and all DLC are still available to play in offline single player by anyone who currently owns it.”
News of the shutdown is perhaps unsurprising, considering the game’s rocky reception at launch. Despite decent combat mechanics and a fun array of classic Dungeons & Dragons foes to vanquish, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance was beset by an uninspiring loot system at launch along with a notable lack of technical polish. While the game was further supported by both free and premium DLC in 2021 and 2022, the game never quite shook its initial reputation and failed to build a sufficient fanbase to sustain further support.
On the plus side, unlike a lot of recent delistings of online multiplayer-focused games, such as Babylon’s Fall and Concord, the game will remain playable for those who already own it. It will exclusively be the underwhelming single-player experience, but it is at least better than nothing. Those who are interested in playing Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance will have until the 24th of February 2025 to purchase the game and experience the online multiplayer, as after that date, the game will be removed from online storefronts and the servers will be going offline for good.
