A datamine of Pokémon GO has set the date for the next Pokémon Presents as 27 February 2025. Pokémon Presents is the name for periodical presentations from The Pokémon Company where new games, updates and more related to the Pokémon are revealed.
Prolific dataminer @Mattyoukhana revealed the date on Twitter/X through a screenshot of new code recently added to the mobile game. The date itself is not a surprise given the 27th of February is ‘Pokémon Day’, the annual celebration of the original Japanese release date of Pokémon Red and Green, but it comes at a time when the franchise is in a complicated position and the Switch 2’s release date is seemingly approaching.

Despite being a massive sales success, the most recent Pokémon games Pokémon Scarlet & Violet launched to middling reviews that particularly criticised its performance and level of polish, potentially attributed to the Pokémon game series’ rapid release schedule. Its DLC was also poorly received. Last year’s Pokémon Presents revealed the next title in the series will be Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Late last year Pokémon developer Game Freak was hacked, which leaked several details about the studio’s plans, as well as some details of Nintendo’s Switch successor. These potential projects include a Pokémon MMO and a multiplayer/battle-focused project being developed with ILCA, the Tokyo-based developer that previously worked on Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. These titles, alongside the already-announced Z-A may be discussed at the Pokémon Presents in February.
The Pokémon Presents also arrives as rumours around the Switch successor continue to build. These include an apparent Nintendo Switch 2 mockup being spotted at CES and images of purported new Joy-Cons being shared online. Last year, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa stated that the Switch successor will be announced within this financial year, which ends in March 2025. Given that the console is expected to be revealed before then, it may coincide or tie into The Pokémon Company’s reveal plans.
