More popular PlayStation games will hit the big screen and streams soon as Sony announces film and TV adaptations of its notable titles. The news was announced during the company’s CES presentation in Las Vegas, during which it listed three big games that are getting an adaptation.
According to Sony, Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers 2 will receive a film adaptation, with both release dates yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Ghost of Tsushima will be turned into an anime series. According to Crunchyroll, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be released in 2027 on its streaming platform and will produced by Sony Music, Aniplex, and the anime streaming giant. Directing the series is Takanobu Mizuno, known for their work in Star Wars: Visions. Meanwhile, this latest Horizon Zero Dawn film will be another attempt to bring this project to our screens as its Netflix adaptation was reportedly cancelled last year due to allegations that its showrunner, Steve Blackman, “fostered a hostile workplace during the show’s pre-production,” which led to Netflix pulling the plug.
Helldiver’s 2 Creative Director, Johan Pilestedt commented on the Helldiver’s film announcement on Twitter/X, stating “You all said you wanted a Helldivers Movie? Well… there you go!” While it’s still unknown who will star in this project, the game was featured on the Prime Video series, Secret Level.

A handful of PlayStation games have been given adaptations in the past. They include the film adaptations of Uncharted and Gran Turismo, the TV adaptation of Twisted Metal, and the award-winning HBO series, The Last of Us. In addition, a horror film adaptation of Until Dawn will be coming out in April 2025 and was directed by Shazam’s David F. Sandberg.
The cast of these three latest projects has yet to be revealed. With so many adaptations of PlayStation titles in the works, who knows what will be coming next?
