Monster Hunter Wilds to receive free update with “new level of challenge” in April 2025

The rather excellent Monster Hunter Wilds has released today, and Capcom has already announced a roadmap of post-launch content.  Title Update 1 will be arriving in early April 2025, bringing new challenges, monsters and locations.

The details of Title Update 1 for Monster Hunter Wilds have been confirmed in an announcement on Steam. Potentially in response to criticism that the main game was a little easy by Monster Hunter standards, the update promises to bring a “monster of formidable strength at a level above Tempered!“, along with an additional new monster for players to hunt. As teased in the game’s launch trailer released earlier this month, at least one of the new monsters will be the bubble-slinging dragon monster Mizutsune, which was originally introduced in Monster Hunter Generations.

Capcom also announces a “new place to gather” for players who have beaten the main story in Monster Hunter Wilds. In this new location, players can “meet, communicate, have meals together and more with other hunters“. Presumably this will be an analogue to the post-game gathering hub areas which previous games have contained, making it easier for players tackling the game’s tough post-story hunts to meet up and coordinate.

Free post-launch support is hard to argue with, and it is comparable to the sorts of post-launch DLC that previous Monster Hunter games have received. There is yet no word on if Monster Hunter Wilds will receive a premium expansion in the vein of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne or Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, but it isn’t unreasonable to expect something like that later down the line. For those of you jumping into Monster Hunter Wilds, greater challenges await with the free Title Update 1 in early April 2025.
