After years of dormancy, Activision has revealed the return of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, with a combined remake of Pro Skater 3 & 4. The reveal trailer promises the return of iconic stages, characters and music from the old games, alongside some new modern inclusions. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will be released on July 11th 2025 on all major platforms.
The Pro Skater franchise has been quiet for a long time. After dominating the 2000s with incredible back-to-back titles, the series struggled to innovate and stopped releasing titles. After an incredible remake of the first two titles in 2020, fans were anticipating 3+4 to follow soon. However, all hope seemed lost when Vicarious Visions merged with Blizzard and Tony Hawk discussed the remake cancellation on a live stream. This time, Iron Galaxy Studios is developing the 3+4 remake. Iron Galaxy is primarily known for porting titles to PC, however, they also assisted with the development of Pro Skater 1+2.
This reveal trailer showcases many of the original titles’ beautifully recreated iconic maps, such as Foundry, Airport and Canada. The side-by-side comparisons highlight just how much over 20 years of graphical fidelity have improved these maps. The trailer is also set to Motörhead’s Ace of Spades, a track originally featured in Pro Skater 3. This music choice implies gamers should expect more licensed music from the original games to return.
However, the developers also promise new content included in these remakes. An entirely new skate park appears at the end of the trailer, taking place across an abandoned waterpark. A deep dive into this new level is available on the game’s website. As Pro Skater 4 was released in 2002, this collection updates the games to modern skater culture, with new music and skaters. The developers also promise an expansion to the Create-A-Skater and Create-A-Park modes, alongside a new competitive option called “HAWK mode.”
The biggest surprise is the inclusion of the DOOM series protagonist Doom Slayer as a guest skater. Doom Guy first appeared in the PC Version of Pro Skater 3, so this inclusion is a nod to the original title. Doom Slayer comes with the deluxe edition of the game alongside the Revenant demon, Unmaykr Hoverboard and music from DOOM. The Deluxe Edition also includes an extra cosmetic option for your skater.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is now on all store pages ready for pre-order. Fans should keep an eye on the game website for more information in the upcoming months.
