Deadpool VR has been revealed as part of Summer Games Fest 2025, coming exclusively to Meta Quest headsets later this year. Developed by studio Twisted Pixel, it sees the player play as Deadpool from a first-person perspective using his assortment of guns, katanas and grenades while combating recognisable Marvel organisations and characters like Mojo, The Hand and Omega Red.
Deadpool VR follows the billion dollar success of last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine, and the release of other superhero VR titles like Batman: Arkham VR and Batman: Arkham Shadow.
Despite appearing in a wide range of Marvel games over the years, and Fortnite, this is only Deadpool’s second headlining title after High Moon Studio’s 2013 release. While he has historically been voiced by prolific videogame voice actor Nolan North, Deadpool VR sees Neil Patrick Harris lending his mouth to the Merc’ for the first time. Harris is no stranger to comic book adaptations, however, having voiced The Flash and Nightwing in animated films and Spider-Man in 2010’s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.
Deadpool VR will be releasing during a tricky time for VR titles – despite publisher hardware like the PSVR2, HTC Vive and Meta Quest headsets, VR games have struggled to gain much of a foothold in the videogame industry. There have been some successes – 2024’s Arkham Shadow was reported to have passed over one million players earlier this year – but VR’s general lack of presence at Geoff Keighly’s 2025 showcase does raise questions as to whether VR will ever break out as a mainstream gaming preference.
Deadpool VR will be releasing later this year exclusive to Meta Quest 3 and 3S.
