The next project from Fallout producer Kilter Films has been revealed, and it’ll heavily feature the time-honoured tradition of killing Nazis. As reported by Variety, Wolfenstein will join the ranks of the modern age of video game adaptations across the big and small screen. The series has not received a mainline video game entry since 2019’s Wolfenstein: Youngblood, a co-op spin-off featuring series protagonist BJ Blazkowicz’s twin daughters.
Previously announced to be getting a film adaptation as far back as 2012, that version of Wolfenstein sadly never materialised. Instead, it’ll be heading to TV under the same production company as the Fallout live-action TV adaptation which released last year.
Attached creator and showrunner Patrick Sommerville is, reportedly, a fan. While I haven’t seen Station Eleven, his earlier work, Maniac, was a genre-bending tour de force. This announcement, along with Fallout’s third-season renewal (before the second season airs in December 2025), demonstrates Amazon’s broader commitment to further video game adaptations. Other adaptations in the works at Amazon include Mass Effect, God of War, and Warhammer.
There aren’t many plot details, but given the logline “The story of killing Nazis is evergreen,” I would wager they aren’t reinventing the wheel with this one. Similarly unknown is the cast, although there are already countless calls for Reacher’s Alan Ritchson to fill the lead role of BJ Blazkowicz.
Here’s hoping it lands better than the ill-fated adaptation of its fellow sci-fi FPS Halo, which was cancelled last year at Paramount+ after two seasons.
