Far Cry 6 info leaked, Giancarlo Esposito to play the villain

Posted on July 11, 2020

Information about Ubisoft’s upcoming open world title Far Cry 6 has leaked online. The game’s PlayStation Store listing and description have become publicly available, providing information about its plot and setting. Giancarlo Esposito, of The Mandalorian and Breaking Bad fame, is set to play Far Cry 6’s antagonist, Anton Castillo.

Far Cry 6 is set in the country of Yara, “a paradise frozen in time”. You play as Dani Rojas, a resistance fighter rebelling against the dictatorship of Anton Castillo and his son, Diego. The fight to liberate Yara will take Dani from the country’s capital, Esperanza, to beaches and jungle environments. The Far Cry series have been known for their colourful and charismatic antagonists, particularly since Michael Mando’s scene-stealing turn as Vaas in Far Cry 3. With an actor of Giancarlo Esposito’s calibre as the main antagonist of Far Cry 6, hopefully we are in for another great Far Cry villain.

As with many Ubisoft titles, Far Cry 6 is set to include preorder bonuses. In this case, a “state-of-the-art Discos Lobos weapon” and “a skin for Chorizo,” will be available to anyone who purchases the game ahead of release. There will also be an online two-player multiplayer mode. According to the listing of the PS4 version of the game, purchasing it digitally also allows access to the PS5 port for no additional cost.

This leak has occurred shortly before publisher’s “Ubisoft Forward” event this weekend, where the game was presumably going to be officially revealed to the public. The online event, which will begin on July 12th, will announce many of Ubisoft’s upcoming projects. More news about upcoming releases, such as Watch Dogs: Legion and Assassins’s Creed: Valhalla, is also set to be revealed. Viewers of the Ubisoft Forward event have an opportunity to snag a free PC copy of Watch Dogs 2, so be sure to tune in if you’re interested in that.

At any rate, Ubisoft seems to be going back to formula after the surreal post-apocalyptic spin-off title, Far Cry New Dawn. Hopefully we will get more information and hopefully a trailer when the game is officially announced soon.
