The next Nintendo Direct will only talk about the Super Mario movie

The next Nintendo Direct comes out on March 9, but unlike other Directs, this won’t be talking about any video games. Instead, there will be news about the upcoming Super Mario movie that will be released on April 7, 2023. News of the Direct’s content came out in a Tweet from Nintendo America, which explicitly mentioned that there would be no new game information on March 9. The only content will be about the Super Mario movie, and nothing else.

The second trailer came out in late November, and the Nintendo Direct will give us the final trailer before the movie’s premiere. It might disappoint fans who were looking for news of upcoming games, but anyone who is looking forward to the movie will get to see more brief snippets of the movie. If you are unable to make the Direct, the trailer will be posted shortly after the air date and you can watch the content on your own time. While the artwork does depict characters driving away from a blue shell, that doesn’t mean the trailer will include more racing footage beyond what we’ve seen in previous trailers.

While not everyone has been feeling great about the movie after seeing the Super Mario movie trailers (especially after hearing Chris Pratt as Mario), it will be interesting to see what this new trailer will include.  Other video game series like The Last of Us and Sonic have done well as TV shows and movies respectively, and Super Mario could be another success waiting to happen.

The Super Mario movie is set to premiere in theatres on April 7, 2023, less than a month after the final trailer.
