Overwatch 2 is gearing up for an action-packed Season 5, filled with new skins and exciting game modes. Let’s dive into the details and discover what’s in store.
Season 5 starts today and players will embark on a journey through the magical kingdom of Overland. As they progress through the season Battle Pass, players will unlock the coveted Mythic Adventurer skin for Tracer, turning her into a legendary hero of the realm. Following a successful Season 4, looks like fans have more great content ready to play.
A new game mode called “Defeat the Demon Lord” will put teams of four heroes against the formidable Demon Lord Reinhardt. Exciting challenges await players in the form of Key Quests, special event challenges that offer enticing rewards such as currency and XP. Rise to the challenge, complete these quests, and reap the benefits they bring.
The beloved Summer Games event brings back Lúcioball and introduces Winston’s Beach Volleyball. Later on, a new Prop Hunt mode named “Mischief and Magic” will also be released. There’s no shortage of variety in Overwatch 2: Season 5.
Several heroes will receive balance adjustments. Mei, Cassidy, Hanzo, Widowmaker, Junker Queen, and Lifeweaver undergo changes that will spice up the battles and add new dynamics to the gameplay.
Weekly challenges now offer progress rollover to the following week. This change allows players to make steady progress and ensures that all completed games count toward challenge completion.
Overwatch 2: Invasion, set to launch on 10 August, following an animated short releasing the week prior, introduces a formidable new threat called Null Sector. Players will join forces to combat the global invasion of Null Sector, embarking on intense Story Missions set in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg. Only by dismantling Null Sector’s forces can the world be saved.
For those seeking the complete experience, the Overwatch 2: Invasion Bundle is available for USD $15 (~AUD $22), providing permanent access to Story Missions, 1,000 Overwatch Coins, a remarkable Sojourn Legendary skin, and the chance to play as Sojourn herself. The Ultimate Invasion Bundle, priced at USD $40 (~AUD $60), offers all the content of the standard Invasion Bundle, along with the Null Sector Premium Battle Pass, additional Legendary skins for Cassidy and Kiriko, and a total of 2,000 Overwatch Coins.
With the introduction of a Co-Op Event set in the Omnic Underworld, a new Flashpoint game mode, Hero Mastery for honing your skills, and a revamped Practice Range, Overwatch 2: Invasion promises a lot of content. Interesting to note that the previous Overwatch 2 PvE mode promised was recently cancelled, now this new Invasion Season 6 of the game seems to reintroduce a similar concept.
Still, it’s important to note the concerning state of the game studio behind Overwatch 2. Activision Blizzard is facing serious allegations of harassment, mistreatment of marginalised workers, and a toxic work environment. For more information, please click here.
You can jump into Season 5 today and get ready to join Overwatch 2: Invasion on 10 August 2023.
