Last year, EA CEO Andrew Wilson revealed that last-gen console ports of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for PS4 and Xbox One were in development. We now have firm release dates for those ports, alongside prices and pre-order bonuses. In addition, developer Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that further quality-of-life improvements (with particular focus given to the poorly-optimised PC port) are on their way.

“The critically acclaimed #StarWarsJediSurvivor is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 17, 2024!” advises the EA Star Wars account on social media. This now means that both Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, will have native versions on both last- and current-generation consoles following the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrades that the first game received in 2021.
For those who pre-order Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on PS4 or Xbox One, they will be entitled to several cosmetic bundles. These will include the Hermit Cosmetic Set (inspired by Obi-Wan Kenobi), Hermit Lightsaber Set, and Combustion Blaster Set. The PS4 and Xbox One ports will be priced at $74.95 AUD in Australia, which at least makes them a fair bit cheaper than the current-gen versions.
It isn’t just console players who will be receiving new content. Respawn has confirmed that a patch for the PC version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be released “in the coming weeks“. This update will improve the game’s technical performance and controls, as well as provide general quality-of-life improvements to what was widely considered to be a sub-par port.
It is unclear at this stage how such an expansive game will be squeezed onto the ageing hardware of the PS4 and Xbox One. Respawn has confirmed that the last-gen ports will “feature a variety of optimisations aimed at maximizing the hardware capabilities of the consoles“. It isn’t the only game which has received belated last-gen ports; Godfall is a recent example of a game getting a PS4 port nearly a year after release. However, it is still somewhat unusual considering the age of the last-gen platforms and most developers striving to make the most of the more powerful current-gen systems instead.
At any rate, we will have to wait and see how Star Wars Jedi: Survivor performs when it releases on PS4 and Xbox One next month on September 17th, 2024.
