Xbox Games Showcase locked and loaded, focusing on first-party games

Posted on July 7, 2020

As expected, Xbox has announced its Xbox Games Showcase of Xbox Series X games, including a focus on first-party titles, will be broadcast on July 23, 9AM PT – which is the unreasonable July 24, 2AM AEST for us Aussies.

The showcase will be games-focused, and will include showings of new games from development teams like Double Fine, Ninja Theory, and Obsidian. One game we know will be there with a gameplay reveal is Halo Infinite.

Xbox certainly have something to prove after the PlayStation event last month that showed gameplay of several games, along with some big announcements and reveals. The last Xbox stream event back in May was considered underwhelming by many, who were anticipating gameplay footage from the new console but… didn’t get much.

Rumours have been swirling about what we can expect from the event, as surely they have some big games up their sleeve that aren’t just Halo. Will we see a new Fable announcement? A new Perfect Dark? What about the console itself; surely a release date and price isn’t far off? Regardless, with the console launch now only a few months away, consumers are going to need to know what they are going to be investing their money in, and that means getting more juicy details and extended gameplay for some big franchises.

We’ll have to wait and see when the Xbox Showcase Event kicks off on July 24, 2AM AEST. So grab a coffee, put the heater on and get comfortable for a late night of exciting next generation gaming news.
