Blizzard Entertainment has announced a new mobile spin-off of their popular Warcraft RTS series. Warcraft Arclight Rumble describes itself as a “mobile action strategy game”. Set within the Warcraft universe, players will take control of digital miniatures as they battle through a solo campaign, jump into coop shenanigans, or indulge in online skirmishes. Marketed as a mix of strategy and tower defence, the game will likely play similarly to the mobile mega-hit Clash Royale. Available as a free-to-play title on iOS and Android, Arclight Rumble may prove to be a decent time-killer with Warcraft fans able to collect known characters from the Warcraft franchise.
Warcraft Arclight Rumble seems to be part of Blizzard’s current move into the mobile market, with titles like Hearthstone and Diablo Immortal already available to play. Unlike the latter, however, Blizzard seems to have learned from their past mistakes and hasn’t announced Arclight Rumble with the same level of buildup that ultimately lead to Diablo Immortal’s disappointing initial reception. Work on other Blizzard titles like Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 continues, as the studio undergoes its landmark acquisition by Microsoft.
